Join Our Engineering Team:

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a proactive engineer to undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across multiple supermarket sites within the South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire region. The role will also involve occasional support for operational delivery, particularly handling reactive maintenance during key periods such as the summer months and peak trading times.

Our engineering service operates 24/7, ensuring continuous support for customer equipment. This requires team members to participate in a standby rota, providing a minimum of 4 weeks of cover annually, which includes evenings and weekends. Each standby commitment is a full week in duration.

Your Main Duties:

  • Ensure the timely completion of PPM schedules, with all associated documentation accurately completed following set procedures.
  • Complete reactive maintenance work within agreed timescales, ensuring all required paperwork is accurate and adheres to established procedures.
  • Promptly identify faults beyond repair, advise the Line Manager of findings, and suggest appropriate replacement options.
  • Maintain all technical and compliance records, ensuring they are consistently up to date.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota (minimum of 4 weeks per year) and take responsibility for arranging and communicating any necessary cover for absences (holidays, unforeseen circumstances) to your line manager.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • NVQ/C&G qualification in Refrigeration
  • Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or a comparable CITB qualification
  • Completion of a recognised Time Served Apprenticeship
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken)
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid Full Driving Licence
