To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate a blend of clinical knowledge, operational expertise, and compassionate leadership. You will be entrusted with managing a 42-bed care home providing a wide range of complex care services, including dementia care, nursing, learning disabilities, mental health support, palliative care, and physical rehabilitation.

? Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Registration

  • NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent) - required
  • Registered Manager experience or willingness to register with the CQC as a Responsible Person
  • Up-to-date knowledge of CQC Fundamental Standards, Health and Social Care Act 2008, and GDPR regulations

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a managerial or senior leadership role in a care home or adult social care setting
  • Proven ability to lead care provision for service users with:
    • Mild to complex dementia
    • Mental health conditions
    • Learning disabilities and autism
    • End-of-life/palliative care needs
    • Neurological conditions such as Parkinson's and stroke
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and local authorities

Operational Competencies

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding protocols, risk management, and infection prevention
  • Competent in budget control, occupancy management, and cost-effective staffing
  • Skilled in carrying out internal audits and leading external inspections (e.g. CQC, Local Authority)
  • Able to develop and implement care planning systems that are person-centred and outcome-focused

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and support diverse care teams including clinical and support staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to manage sensitive and challenging situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Effective at liaising with residents' families, external health professionals, and contracting authorities such as Derbyshire County Council and NHS CHC

�? Desirable Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) with an active NMC PIN (not essential)
  • Experience in managing dual-funded placements (e.g., NHS CHC + LA top-up + private)
  • Knowledge of dementia frameworks, e.g., Namaste, Montessori for dementia, or similar
  • Familiarity with digital care planning systems (e.g., Person Centred Software)
