GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Chesterfield. We offer full-time opportunities to support pupils requiring extra emotional and behavioural assistance.

As an SEMH TA, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assisting in the implementation of behaviour support plans and strategies.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
  • Supporting social skills development and helping pupils manage emotions.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to progress monitoring.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence with business insurance is essential.
  • Strong communication, patience, and resilience.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • An up-to-date DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
