GSL Education are seeking a Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a supportive, multi-disciplinary team in Chesterfield, providing dedicated SEN support within primary settings.
This rewarding role involves working closely with students who have a range of behavioural and educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, ODD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. As part of a small, dynamic team, you’ll help ensure the smooth running of the school day while making a real impact on students' progress and well-being.
As a Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, your responsibilities will be:
- Provide targeted support to children across the primary age range
- Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes
- Work with individuals or small groups, occasionally leading sessions in staff absence
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Support lesson planning and contribute to a nurturing classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet pupils' learning and emotional needs
- Uphold school policies and maintain accurate records
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a school environment as a Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant (essential)
- Must be a driver with access to a vehicle and business insurance (essential), this role is based on Mileage Paid
- Understanding of and experience with ASD, ADHD, ODD, and SEMH needs
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 / NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable)
- Ability to adapt quickly, step in when required, and maintain a calm, professional manner
- Growth mindset, positive ethos, and commitment to inclusive education
- have an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply
