Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract:Â Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
Do you have the organisational skills and dedication to ensure every child has the opportunity to attend and succeed? If so, GSL Education are inviting applications for a committed and reliable Attendance Officer to join a special educational needs (SEN) school in Chesterfield. This is a vital position where your administrative expertise will directly support the well-being and educational progress of vulnerable pupils.
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring and improving student attendance across the school. This position will involve daily communication with families, working closely with teaching staff, and making home visits where necessary to support re-engagement.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Monitor daily student attendance records and follow up on unexplained absences
- Build positive relationships with families to encourage regular school attendance
- Liaise with pastoral and safeguarding teams to identify patterns and concerns
- Conduct home visits when required to support pupils and their families
- Maintain accurate and confidential attendance data
- Assist with reporting to senior leaders and external agencies when needed.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in an administrative, pastoral, or education support role is highly desirable
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to engaging with students and families
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in an SEN environment
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
