Location: Chesterfield (S41)
Pay: 450 - 480 per week (after deductions)
Contract: Long-term to permanent
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only

Long Term Futures is working with a specialist provision in Chesterfield (S41) to appoint a dedicated Literacy Intervention Assistant. The role focuses on supporting pupils aged 11-16 who may be disaffected or have behavioural, emotional, social or learning difficulties, helping them improve literacy skills, confidence and engagement with education.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who have struggled in mainstream settings. You'll be part of a caring, skilled team working to re-engage students through targeted, structured support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver literacy and reading interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Support pupils in developing key literacy, comprehension and communication skills.
  • Help students build confidence, independence and a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN and behaviour teams to identify and meet pupil needs.
  • Track progress and adjust interventions to ensure continued development.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting literacy or learning in education or youth settings.
  • Be patient, empathetic and able to build positive relationships with students.
  • Have strong English and communication skills.
  • Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS certificate.
