TPF Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected accountancy practice based in Chichester, seeking a skilled Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced practice professional to play a key role in the preparation of client accounts and tax returns, while supporting both senior staff and trainees within a collaborative and supportive environment.

About the Role:

Following a structured induction programme, the successful candidate will work on a varied portfolio of clients, including Limited Companies, LLPs, Sole Traders, and Partnerships. You will take responsibility for preparing accounts and tax returns, supporting the wider team in delivering high-quality client services.

Reporting to the Portfolio Managers, you will also assist more junior team members, sharing knowledge and helping them progress in their training and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of year-end accounts for a range of business structures

  • Completion of Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns using the CCH software suite

  • Use of cloud-based software such as Xero, Dext, Sage, and QuickBooks to process client data and prepare VAT and CIS returns

  • Production and commentary on Management Accounts

  • Assist with file review points and prepare accounts packs and client correspondence

  • Advise on personal tax matters under supervision of qualified accountants

  • Support with ad hoc accounting duties such as P11D and ATED submissions

  • Work within pre-agreed client budgets and timelines

  • Contribute to smooth workflow management in collaboration with the Portfolio Managers

  • Mentor and support junior staff members as required

  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, industry regulations, and legislation

  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and client service

RequirementsThe Ideal Candidate:
  • AAT Level 4 qualified with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a practice environment (QBE also considered)

  • Strong understanding of accounting and tax compliance for SMEs

  • Previous experience preparing both personal and corporate tax returns

  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy

  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach

  • Ability to manage deadlines and multi-task effectively

  • Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel and Word)

  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Dext
