Our client, a forward thinking, growing firm of Chartered Accountants are seeking a Bookkeeper/Senior Bookkeeper to join their team in Chichester.

They will consider someone full or part-time and the role will involve being responsible for all aspects of bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients including Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.

Key Duties will include:-

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping for a range of clients using Xero.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, process supplier invoices, and prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Handle pre-year-end account preparation including trial balances and reconciliations.
  • Set up and manage Xero files for new clients, including chart of accounts, bank feeds, and automation tools.
  • Liaise directly with clients to request information, answer queries, and offer basic financial guidance.
  • Support the wider team in preparing management accounts and reports.
  • Train and support junior staff where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with MTD and HMRC requirements.You will mainly be using Xero, along with QuickBooks and Sage, so a good working knowledge of these systems would be an advantage.

You will ideally have at least 3 years' bookkeeping experience gained within a UK practice and have a strong understanding of UK VAT rules and submission processes, as well as holding a professional qualification such as AAT or equivalent.
