I am currently representing West Sussex Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Strategic Consultant (Alternative Provisions) this role will be: PO191RG Hybrid 2 days on site.

The right candidate will:

  • Review the current situation of the WSCC alternative provision services, alongside the wider SEND provision, using the structure of the SEND & AP Change Programme with its 3-tier model as a framework.
  • Plan how to achieve a sustainable 3-tier service for Alternative Provision (AP).
  • Support the creation of the Local Area Inclusion Plan (LAIP), while using the LAIP process to forecast demand for alternative provision over a multi-year period.
  • Engage with providers and settings how demand can best be met.

Focus on early and accurate identification of needs and inclusion.

  • Advise and support strategic and individual commissioning of services, and ensuring any changes to service delivery are based on creating an inclusive system with improved provision in mainstream schools.
  • Develop a range of resources to monitor impact and effectiveness.
  • Develop the councils strategy for Appropriate and Alternative Provision

We require the following:

  • Knowledge of the SEND and AP Change Programme
  • An understanding of commissioning services.
  • Ability to promote the benefits of inclusion to all stakeholders and engage their hearts and minds.
