About the Role:

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Senior Finance Assistant to join their Accounts Receivable - Debt Recovery Team on a temporary basis to support a peak in workload. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the effective recovery of outstanding debt for a reputable public sector organisation.

As a Senior Finance Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality, efficient, and reliable service by following established debt recovery procedures. You will be responsible for:

  • Contacting clients via phone, email, and letter regarding outstanding debts

  • Responding to queries and providing guidance on standard processes

  • Producing and managing correspondence

  • Maintaining accurate records and updating systems

  • Escalating cases for further action where appropriate

  • Supporting day-to-day administrative finance tasks as required

About You:

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a finance or accounts receivable environment

  • Possesses excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Can handle sensitive or difficult conversations professionally

  • Is organised and detail-oriented with strong administrative abilities

  • Is confident using IT systems and office software

Qualifications and/or experience: * 4 GCSE's grades A-C, including maths and English, or equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating that level of numeracy and literacy. * Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) part-qualified at intermediate level NVQ 3 or studying towards an equivalent qualification or demonstrable technical and theoretical knowledge related to accountancy at this level. * Experience of working in a customer orientated environment. * A good understanding of office systems and practices related to finance, usually demonstrated by relevant experience working in a financial environment. * Experience providing specialist advice to managers or customers. Including explaining complex financial information or other similar technical information.What's on Offer:
