Quantity Surveyor

60k to 65k per annum + package

Chigwell, Essex

We are currently recruiting a site based Quantity Surveyor in Chigwell, Essex to support the commercial aspects of project delivery on a large residential project. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will assist project teams with commercial, financial, and contract-related matters, ensuring industry best practices are followed. This role will be both site and office based.

Main Duties:

  • Commercial Project Management: Maximise the successful running and commercial control of each project, ensuring they are delivered cost-effectively and in accordance with contract conditions.
  • Tender Review: Carefully review tender documents to identify requirements and potential risks.
  • Scheduling and Budgeting: Create schedules of works and budgets and quantify the Bill of Quantities when required.
  • Client Interaction: Attend meetings with clients and their representatives, presenting the company's position.
  • Procurement: Manage procurement of sub-contract packages, labour-only packages, and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery to meet project schedules.
  • Reporting: Prepare and manage project budget costs, monthly forecast reports, and periodic valuations and invoices.
  • Variation Management: Handle variations and ensure all additional works are recorded and adequately documented for full revenue recovery.
  • Team Support: Provide guidance and advice to other project team members, monitor and manage workload for direct reports, and develop their performance.

Essential:

  • Qualified to HND or Degree Level in Quantity Surveying.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Strong numerical, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel between sites.

Desirable:

Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or willingness to work towards it.
