About my Client:
A well-established precision engineering business with a strong order book and modern facilities. They are seeking a Quality Inspector to join their growing team. The Quality Inspector will ensure products meet the highest quality standards, working closely with production to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement across machining/manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect machined metal components using precision tools (micrometers, verniers, gauges; ideally CMM).
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications and standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485; awareness of ISO 14001 beneficial).
  • Perform first-off, in-process and final inspection; ensure full traceability through accurate records.
  • Analyse inspection data, prepare clear quality reports and highlight trends for action.
  • Identify non-conformities (NCRs), support containment and collaborate with production on corrective actions.
  • Maintain calibration, inspection and quality records in line with the QMS.
  • Contribute to the development of QA policies, best practices and continuous improvement (CAPA, root cause).

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a machining/manufacturing environment (precision engineering/CNC).
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials and GD&T; confident reading engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in the use of precision inspection tools; exposure to CMM/quality software advantageous.
  • Knowledge of QMS and industry standards (ISO 9001; awareness of ISO 13485/ISO 14001 welcome).
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication and practical problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Six Sigma/Lean training or certification.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and CAPA (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Familiarity with SPC/quality/data analysis tools (e.g., Excel/Minitab) and FAIRs/PPAP (nice to have, not essential).
