This substantial FMCG manufacturing company operates across two sites in Lancashire creating and distributing products for customers worldwide. Their policy of continuous inward investment has enabled them to expand rapidly, investing in modern production facilities and warehouse automation to ensure they remain industry leaders with a global presence. A recent restructure of the finance department has created a new role for a Senior Financial Accountant. The role will involve close liaison with their internal finance team, provide exposure to senior management and leadership throughout the business.

Reporting into the group board the role will encompass full ownership of financial accounting and reporting. Key responsibilities will be:

  • All regulatory matters of Audit and Statutory Account preparation.
  • Prepare the monthly Management information and keep all monthly accruals fully up to date.
  • Work with the appointed Auditors to plan and prepare the draft accounts.
  • Manage and work with the European Auditors / advisers
  • Ensure compliance with accounting laws and the company’s policies and procedures
  • Work with the UK Finance team and foreign subsidiaries to ensure that financial data is delivered in a meaningful and timely manner
  • Assist with reviewing practices and procedures to promote continuous improvement and efficiency.

The right candidate will have:

  • Ideally a qualification with a recognised accountancy body i.e. ICAEW or ACCA
  • Detailed knowledge of financial accounting and reporting
  • Demonstrable ability to analyse and present complex data
  • A proactive approach to work and ability to integrate with a wider team
  • Clear understanding of key financial regulations.
  • Strong technical knowledge to interpret financials into meaningful business outcomes.
  • Good communication skills and experience of dealing with stakeholders both in and outside of Finance.
  • The ability to drive continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Strong excel skills and ideally knowledge of SAGE 200
