Civil Project Engineer - Chorley
We are currently looking for experienced Civil Project Engineers to join an expanding civil engineering team based out of Chorley. If you're motivated, enjoy a challenge and have a strong background in highways and drainage design in the UK, this could be the next step in your career.
Role Summary
In this role you will be working across an established team of Graduate Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Project Engineers, Chartered Engineers and Directors. You'll be based in either the Chorley or Liverpool office and collaborate closely with colleagues across other sites regular team meetings and cross-office support ensure a connected working environment. You'll each manage multiple projects and clients concurrently, ensuring that deliverables meet the required standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of highways and drainage schemes, including adoptable standards (e.g., Section 278, Section 38, Section 104).
- Use AutoCAD, Site3D and Causeway Flow (or equivalent) to produce detailed drainage and highway calculations, sketches and drawings.
- Prepare specifications and documentation in line with CIRIA guidance, BRE digests, BS EN 752 and relevant design standards.
- Conduct site visits to verify that construction aligns with drawings and design intent.
- Maintain commercial awareness around costing, budgets and quotations.
- Support process improvement in design services and operational efficiency within the team.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- At least 3 years' UK-based experience in highways and drainage design.
- Proficient use of AutoCAD, Site3D and Causeway Flow (or equivalent software).
- Experience producing highway and drainage calculations, preparing sketches, drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with adoptable standards (Section 278, Section 38, Section 104).
- Report writing and site verification experience.
- Strong communication and consultation skills; confident working with clients, contractors and multi-discipline teams.
