Prospero Teaching is currently working with a SEMH School in Chorley that is looking for a KS2 teacher.

This school caters for pupils between 6 and 16 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a variety of enriching educational opportunities for pupils including academic, functional and vocational skills.
These students may present with mild to moderate ASD, ADHD and some will come from difficult and complex home lives. These students can be difficult to reach, and often display challenging behaviour.

You will be teaching small classes of students with additional needs. Most are disengaged from education, and part of your role will be to re-engage them.
This position is ideal for a new teacher looking for experience within SEN, or an experienced teacher who is looking to reduce their workload and enjoy less planning!
You must be a qualified teacher for this position, and this school is willing to support you through your ECT if needed.

Roles and responsibilities:

Manage challenging behaviour positively and in line with the schools' ethos and procedures.
Ensure lessons are planned to meet the needs of children.
Ability to tailor your lessons to the needs of each student
Motivate, engage and inspire children
A dedication to the safeguarding of young people.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A level of understanding/experience in childcare and special educational needs setting would be advantageous
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year - Prospero can provide this
  • GCSE or equivalent, Level 2 English and Maths Qualifications (C or above)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
