We have an exciting opportunity for a IT Project Engineer / Senior IT Support Engineer to join a growing, friendly and dynamic Managed Service Provide who deliver support both remotely and in person to Businesses across the UK.

The Role of IT Project Engineer

Ensure that IT projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards.

The IT Project Engineer is responsible for creating detailed project plans, outlining phases, tasks, and milestones. They coordinate with stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables, ensuring that the project aligns with the organization's strategic goals.

Requirement to serve as the technical lead and / or resource providing guidance to the project team on software, hardware, and network solutions. They ensure that the technical aspects of the project meet the required standards and delivered as requested.

Managing resources efficiently is a critical role, this includes allocating personnel, budget, and equipment to various project tasks, ensuring that resources are used optimally and effectively.

The IT Project Engineer is tasked with designing the project's architecture and infrastructure. They are responsible for the implementation and integration of IT systems, ensuring that the solutions are robust, scalable, and secure.

Continuous monitoring of project progress is essential, tracks milestones, budgets, and timelines, providing regular status reports to stakeholders and the Management Team

They use project management tools to document progress and identify potential issues early.

Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks is a crucial responsibility, the IT Project Engineer develops risk management plans to address potential hurdles that could impact the project's success.

Ensuring that the project meets the required quality standards is another key responsibility. They establish quality benchmarks and conducts regular testing and evaluations to ensure compliance.

Effective communication and collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and clients are vital. You will facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions to ensure that all parties are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.

After the project's completion you will provide support for the transition to the operational phase. This includes troubleshooting, training, and ensuring that the project deliverables are sustainable in the long term.

In summary you will play a multifaceted role that requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and effective communication. Your contribution is instrumental in driving the successful delivery of IT projects that meet organizational goals and objectives.

Person Specification for the IT Project Engineer

• Previous project experience working for a Managed Service Provider, with strong working knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure/AWS)
• Windows OS and Windows Server 2019/2016 migrations
• Office 365 maintenance and administration
• Networking (Firewalls, Routing & Switches, APs, TCP/IP)
• Virtualisation technologies (VMware ESXi 6.0>, Hyper-V), Citrix desirable
• Previous experience around migrations e.g. Exchange on-prem to Office 365, Exchange Online etc.
• Any certifications around ITIL, PRINCE2 and within Microsoft and Cloud space will be beneficial.
