What's involved?
Export clerks responsibilities include:
Export Documentation: Prepare and process essential export documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.- Shipping Coordination: Arrange and monitor shipments via road, sea, and air freight, liaising with freight forwarders and carriers to ensure timely delivery.
- Customs Compliance: Ensure all exports comply with HMRC regulations and international customs requirements, including accurate tariff classifications and declarations.
- Customer Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for international clients regarding shipping schedules, documentation, and any export-related inquiries.
- Inventory Management: Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate stock levels for export orders and timely dispatch of goods.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all export transactions, including shipping documents and correspondence, for auditing and reference purposes.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline export processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Experience:
- Experience: Previous experience in an export or logistics role, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with export documentation systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with a focus on customer service and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
