NPI Team Leader
Role Overview
This role focuses on leading the successful introduction of new electronic products into manufacturing. The NPI Team Leader will manage a small cross-functional team and coordinate the transition from design through to full-scale production. The position requires a strong technical grounding in electronics and manufacturing, alongside solid leadership and project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product introduction projects from prototype to volume manufacture.
- Coordinate build activities, ensuring design intent and manufacturing quality are maintained.
- Manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the MRP system.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation: build instructions, test procedures, and configurations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design-for-manufacture (DFM) issues.
- Drive continuous improvement across NPI processes and team capability.
- Support and manage team performance through clear direction, coaching, and development.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Background in electronic manufacturing, ideally with hands-on skills such as soldering and reworking SMT and through-hole components.
- Confident reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems and BOM management.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability to component level.
- Understanding of 3D mechanical models (SolidWorks experience preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate technical teams in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
- Prior experience managing new product introductions and leading technical teams.
