NPI Team Leader

Role Overview
This role focuses on leading the successful introduction of new electronic products into manufacturing. The NPI Team Leader will manage a small cross-functional team and coordinate the transition from design through to full-scale production. The position requires a strong technical grounding in electronics and manufacturing, alongside solid leadership and project coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead new product introduction projects from prototype to volume manufacture.
  • Coordinate build activities, ensuring design intent and manufacturing quality are maintained.
  • Manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the MRP system.
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation: build instructions, test procedures, and configurations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design-for-manufacture (DFM) issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement across NPI processes and team capability.
  • Support and manage team performance through clear direction, coaching, and development.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Background in electronic manufacturing, ideally with hands-on skills such as soldering and reworking SMT and through-hole components.
  • Confident reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and BOM management.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability to component level.
  • Understanding of 3D mechanical models (SolidWorks experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate technical teams in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Prior experience managing new product introductions and leading technical teams.
