Multi-Skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer

  • Location: Clacton-On-Sea, Essex
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Salary Guide: £45,000 PA, Depending on experience
  • With Overtime on target earnings to £55,000 PA possible
  • Shift: Day shift - Monday to Friday - 36 hours per week
  • Hours of work: 8.30 AM - 5.00 PM and Friday: 8.30 AM - 3.30 PM

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established global manufacturer of synthetic paper products. The role involves performing a broad range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across various production machinery, diagnosing electrical faults, and working with PLC systems to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.

The successful candidate will use your knowledge to maintain and improve the performance of the machines used in day-to-day manufacture.

Any experience of working on Extrusion Machinery would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical maintenance, fault-finding and diagnostics across production equipment.
  • Support electrical repairs and work collaboratively with multi-skilled engineers.
  • Complete day-to-day maintenance tasks and ensure adherence to service level agreements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects around equipment reliability, safety, and performance
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs, assist with spare parts inventory, and support audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Strong hands-on experience with production machinery
  • Excellent fault-finding skills on PLCs, drives, motors, panels, and industrial control systems
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure - a true team player
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Time-served or formally qualified in Electrical Engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • Electrical qualifications - 18th Edition required
  • Knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics
  • Experience with PLC / HMI fault finding (Allen Bradley, Siemens S7)
