Yacht Propeller Assembler / Machinist

  • Permanent Position
  • Salary up to: £32,448 pa
  • Working Hours - 39 hrs per week
  • Monday - Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30 and Friday: - 07:30 - 12:30 hours

Specialised engineering manufacturing company that supplies propellers and sterngear for various applications, including sailing yachts, is recruiting a mechanical assembler, machinist who can also do manual milling and turning, discing to assemble various bespoke yacht propellers.

Key Tasks Defined:
  • Discing of raw castings using abrasive discs to smooth and refine the surface of the metal castings, removing imperfections like burrs and rough edges. Also, Proof Discing.
  • Manual machining to make nuts, bolts for assembling the propeller components.
  • Assembly of propellers.
  • Balancing of propeller blades.
  • Dis-assembly and fault reporting of returned propellers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in line with health and safety regulations and company standards.
Skills and Attributes Required:
  • Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to deburr and finish blades with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting.
  • A strong team player who collaborates well with others.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety in a workshop setting.
  • Background in engineering or manufacturing preferred.
