- Based in Clevedon, BS21
- Lead and Mentor Engineers: Directly manage and motivate a team of approximately 6 mechanical engineers, ensuring cohesive teamwork and the achievement of project milestones.
- Project Ownership: Guide projects from concept through to customer commissioning, ensuring they meet time, cost, quality, and specification requirements.
- Best Practices Leadership: Champion the adoption of best mechanical engineering practices to drive efficiency and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Work Package Management: Design and assign work packages across cross-functional teams, ensuring successful project completion through all key milestones.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all mechanical engineering work is compliant with industry standards, regulations, and product requirements.
- Subject Matter Expertise & Mentorship: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to engineers, assisting in their professional development.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (essential);
- Master’s Degree (desirable), or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution (desirable).
- Functional Safety qualifications (desirable).
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering and design within a related engineering industry (essential).
- Experience in a regulated, compliance-driven industry, such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment (desirable).
- Experience in designing and developing products through the full product development lifecycle (essential).
- Familiarity with design-for-X principles, including manufacturability, cost, and maintainability (essential).
- Knowledge of safety and design review methods such as PHA, HAZOP, FMEA, and industry standards like SEMI S2 (desirable).
- Knowledge or experience in the semiconductor industry or similar regulated environment (desirable).
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical design and engineering practices (essential).
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide engineers effectively.
- Ability to manage complex projects, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities with a calm, analytical approach to addressing challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence across various levels of the organisation.
- Ability to review and release engineering drawings to BS8888 and P&ID (essential).
- Willingness to travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally (desirable).
