Due to continued growth and increased demand across product lines, Axon Moore are now seeking an experienced Production and Purchasing Planner to join our clients operations team.Role OverviewThis is a key role responsible for planning and coordinating production schedules while managing procurement activities to ensure optimal inventory levels, supplier performance, and timely delivery of materials. Working closely with operations, logistics, and suppliers, the role ensures production runs smoothly and cost-effectively.Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer orders and forecasted demand.
  • Monitor material requirements and place purchase orders with approved suppliers.
  • Liaise with production, warehouse, and quality teams to ensure material availability and delivery timelines.
  • Identify and resolve any supply chain issues or bottlenecks that may impact production.
  • Maintain accurate data on ERP/MRP systems regarding stock levels, order status, lead times, and planning parameters.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers to maximise value and reliability.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement across planning and procurement functions.
  • Work with the finance department on budget forecasting, stock valuation, and supplier account management.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar Production, Planning, or Purchasing role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory control, and production planning.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Oracle, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS, HND/Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering) are desirable.
