Job Title: Manufacturing-Based Engineering ManagerLocation: Outskirts of Glasgow, ScotlandCompany Overview: I am recruiting for a leading service provider company who are looking for an Engineering Manager in their facility on the outskirts of Glasgow to join their dynamic team of engineers.Job Summary:The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the engineering department, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of manufacturing processes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a split between managing the 8 engineers on a shift pattern and not being afraid to assist the engineers when a breakdown/issue arises, so existing engineers can be upskilled.Therefore, an individual with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical machinery and engineering principles is required.Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Management:- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8 engineers and technicians - some are inexperienced, so they require on-the-job training and development.- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.- Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.Process Improvement:- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.- Utilise lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations.- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements.Project Management:- Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects from conception to completion.- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.Technical Expertise:- Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team. 50% management, 50% hands-on training- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.Qualifications:- From a Mechanical or Electrical background in manufacturing, service provider or industrial industries.- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.- Proven project management experience.- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.If this is a position that is of interest to you, and you would like to hear more, please contact me on the details below...
