Commercial Underwriter - Renewals

Salary: Up to £45,000 + Extensive Benefits Package

Location: Surrey (Hybrid Working Model)

We are exclusively partnering with a leading UK underwriting business to recruit a Commercial Underwriter for their renewals-focused liability underwriting team in Surrey.

This is a technical underwriting role, focused on the assessment and pricing of mid-market commercial risks, with cases typically ranging from £20,000 to £100,000 GWP. You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of renewal business, making sound underwriting decisions within your delegated authority.

Working closely with partnering brokers, you will review submissions, assess risk quality, and apply underwriting guidelines to deliver competitive yet profitable solutions. The role is ideal for an underwriter or broker who enjoys hands-on risk analysis and is looking to step into a more challenging technical position.

Experience & Skills Required:

Solid experience in either commercial underwriting or broking

Knowledge of Commercial Liabilities is a must

A keen interest in risk assessment and pricing

An inquisitive nature and a willingness to develop strong researching skills

Ability to interpret diverse information sources to make well-reasoned decisions

Confident communication skills
