The Client: 
A leading main contractor working within the residential, social housing, commercial, education, leisure, public and healthcare sectors and a stalwart of the local construction industry over the last 80 years, this forward-thinking and ambitious contractor have a reputation for delivering complex new build and refurbishment projects to the highest of standards.

The Role:

Due to growth and an influx of new projects, they are looking to recruit a Senior Finance Assistant, reporting directly into the business’ CFO, on a part time basis (3 days a week) to provide much needed support.


Responsibilities:

  • Client Invoicing & credit control
  • Set up new supplier/subcontractor accounts and maintain existing ones
  • Deal externally with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Subcontractor CIS checks, reconciliation & returns to HMRC
  • Code & enter purchase, supplier and subcontractor invoices
  • Check supplier/subcontractor statements
  • Match PO’s & goods received notes to supplier invoices, deal and resolve any discrepancies
  • Check Plant hire supplier invoices to site
  • Weekly & Monthly payment runs
  • Manage and maintain sales & purchase ledgers
  • Provide support to reception
  • Manage the Accounts mailbox (when required)
  • Co-manage holiday chart
  • Assist with rolling cashflow forecast
  • Ensure expense claims are received from staff and processed
  • Manage weekly employee timesheets
  • Analysis and processing of credit cards
  • Bank & credit card reconciliation
  • Weekly & Monthly Payroll & Pension submissions
  • Assist with monthly cashflow forecast & job costing
  • Assist with month end processes & close
  • Assist with accounts to Trial Balance
  • Assist with Audit preparation
  • General ad-hoc admin/finance duties as required
     

Qualifications & Experience

  • AAT Level 3/4 or 10 years Qualified by Experience as Assistant Accountant/Senior Finance Assistant position
  • Xero experience and Excel knowledge (essential – VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Ability to take accounts to TB
  • Proven experience in a similar role (construction industry experience beneficial)
  • Working experience of Construction Manager & Hubdoc beneficial
