We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established care provider for a full-time Chef to join their dedicated catering team within a modern nursing and dementia care home in Colchester.

The RoleAs Chef, you will take a lead role in the preparation of nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals that meet the needs and preferences of residents, including those with dietary requirements. Working alongside a small kitchen team, you will ensure the kitchen operates to the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare varied meals in line with residents' needs and dietary preferences
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and infection control standards
  • Manage stock, orders, and kitchen cleanliness
  • Work flexibly including some weekends and bank holidays as per rota
  • Engage positively with residents and staff, contributing to a homely, person-centred environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified to Level 1 Food Processing, with Food Hygiene Level 3 and H&S certification
  • Experience managing or supporting a successful catering operation, ideally in care or hospitality
  • Confident understanding of COSHH, SOVA, GDPR, and infection control in a care home setting
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with great communication skills

Hours & Benefits

  • 37.5 hours per week (including some weekends and bank holidays)
  • £12.79 per hour / £24,961.50 annual salary
