A growing UK-based engineering business, specialising in high-pressure air and gas compression systems, is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join its dynamic team based in Colchester. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of high-profile projects and work with a highly skilled engineering department delivering bespoke solutions to clients across the UK.
The role will see you managing complex technical projects from contract kick-off through to final customer handover, working closely with internal design teams, clients, and international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Full responsibility for the lifecycle of assigned projects.
Act as primary point of contact for customers and suppliers.
Coordinate with Project Design Engineers to produce technical documentation to tight deadlines.
Produce and maintain project plans, resource schedules, and risk & opportunity registers.
Report on project status, including bi-weekly updates to the Project Department Lead.
Chair internal project meetings and participate in quality audits.
Maintain accurate records including meeting minutes and action trackers.
Travel to customer sites and to the company’s head office in Germany when required.
Support business improvements by contributing ideas for process enhancements.
Assist in monitoring and improving project and company-wide KPIs.
Requirements
Proven project management experience within an engineering environment.
Solid mechanical understanding; a formal engineering qualification is highly desirable.
Strong customer-facing skills and confidence in professional environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools including Word, Excel, and Project.
Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM) is advantageous.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.
Full UK driving license.
Must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
