Job Title: Design Technician
Location: Colchester
Contract: Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a rapidly expanding renewable energy company which develops, designs, constructs and maintains renewable energy solutions.
Their work is is primarily ground mount and rooftop solar and Battery Storage Systems.
As a Design Technician you will be working on a variety of exciting renewable projects, from commercial & industrial rooftop projects to large scale ground mount solar farms and Battery Storage Systems. The main role will be to assist with the preparation of design / planning documentation.
The role responsibilities for a Design Technician would be:
- Comfortable to operate well under pressure, while proactively uses their own initiative and take responsibility for their own work.
- To work within a sociable team environment to prepare feasibility and conceptual site layouts and to follow a process through to full detailed and technical design drawings and documentation for various solar rooftop and ground mount projects.
- To prepare Single Line Diagrams and PVSyst reports.
- To manage design projects from feasibility to handover drawings, ensuring all work is carried out precisely, efficiently and within set timescales.
- Attend and participate in team meetings as and when required.
- Willing to undertake roles as their career develops
The ideal candidate for the Design Technician role would have:
- Experience with AutoCAD and has had training
- Basic PVsyst experience
- Basic helioscope experience
- Minimum of 1-year onsite experience
- Enthusiastic about renewable energy and the impact it is having on society
- Due to location of premises and work involved, the candidate must hold a driving licence.
- Keen to learn new skills
- Knowledge of Solar industry products
- Knowledge of PV Case
- Have an understanding about solar development
- Good communication, numeracy, and computer skills
- Have an excellent eye for design / detail
- The ability and enthusiasm to meet deadlines
- Good problem-solving skills
- Uses own initiative to take on responsibility
