Electrical Engineer | Manufacturing | Day Shift | Industry leading Pension Contribution | 35,000

Are you a qualified Electrical Engineer looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We're working with a global leader in the production of specialist materials, and they're looking to bring in an experienced engineer to support and improve the reliability of their electrical systems.

This is a day-shift position offering the chance to join a well-established team at a key production facility based in the Colchester area. You'll be working with advanced manufacturing and production machinery, including 3-phase motors, PLCs, and VFDs, and playing a key role in both reactive and preventive maintenance activities.

The Role:

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll carry out routine maintenance, react quickly to plant breakdowns, and help improve control systems across the site. You'll also participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing system efficiency and operational uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspections and planned maintenance of electrical equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns and implement effective, lasting solutions
  • Diagnose and repair faults in PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motors, and other electrical components
  • Support installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and controls
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and support documentation compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical safety regulations
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth operations
  • Participate in a call-out rota and support urgent repair work as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • 18th Edition Certification (essential)
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, particularly within a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong skills in PLC/HMI diagnostics and ladder logic interpretation
  • Hands-on experience with VFDs, 3-phase systems, and automation controls
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and fault-finding skills
  • Confidence working from electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Understanding of LV circuits and lighting/power distribution
