MS622 - Shipping Officer

Salary: Circa £30,000 per annum

Location: Colchester 

Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Shipping Officer on behalf of one of our clients. Working as part of a small team to ensure the smooth running of the Shipping Department.  

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 0800 to 1300 and 1400 to 1700 hrs (a total of 40hrs per week). You would, however, often be expected to work outside of these hours for the satisfactory performance of your duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with clients / client’s freight forwarders.
  • Arranging the collection / dispatch of shipments via air, sea & courier.
  • Ensuring company and client paperwork is correct.
  • Providing shipping assistance to Sales Engineers & Warehouse Team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate good basic IT literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic is essential.
  • Any experience in a logistics background is extremely advantageous but sufficient training will be provided.
