Job Title: Payroll Manager

Salary: Up to £40,000 (pro-rata)

Hours: 30 - 40 hours p/w, Mon - Fri

Location: Flexible, Sudbury/Colchester

Casanovas Recruitment Solutions are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing business that has recently expanded to three sites, including a brand-new location currently under construction. As a result of this growth, our client are now looking to appoint an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to take ownership of the payroll function across the group, currently supporting around 300 employees with further growth on the horizon.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll for around 300 employees across multiple sites
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in line with contracts and legislation
  • Handle statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and others
  • Administer pension schemes, including enrolments and contributions
  • Keep up to date with UK payroll laws and ensure full compliance
  • Lead payroll audits and reconciliations; resolve discrepancies
  • Be the first point of contact for payroll queries from staff
  • Identify and implement payroll process improvements
  • Prepare and distribute all statutory payroll documents (e.g. payslips, P45s, P60s, P11Ds)
  • Provide payroll reports and KPIs to senior leadership, work closely with HR to ensure data accurate
  • Support payroll integration for new sites or acquisitions and deliver payroll inductions

Required Skills & Desired Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior UK payroll role with strong knowledge pf payroll legislation, tax, NI, pension contributions and compliance
  • Confident with payroll systems, advanced Excel skills, and experience managing integrations and system improvements
  • High level of accuracy in complex payroll processing, reconciliations, and statutory reporting
  • Able to interpret and resolve technical payroll issues with a logical, solutions-focused approach
  • Advanced Excel skills and system development experience
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently
