Executive Legal Support Assistant, Corporate and Commercial

Our client, a well-established law firm in the Top Legal 500 based in Colchester, is recruiting for an organised and detail-focused Executive Legal Support Assistant for their Corporate and Commercial team. You will be supporting a team of five solicitors, This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services through expert administrative and document support.

This role offers not only a great opportunity for experienced legal assistants but also an excellent entry point for law graduates, particularly those with an interest in Corporate and Commercial law, providing hands-on experience and exposure to a high-quality legal practice.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected and supportive team, where you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional legal support to the Corporate and Commercial department.

The Role

  • Providing support to the team with a strong emphasis on document production, including formatting, proofreading, and version control of complex documents
  • Preparing and amending contracts, agreements, and correspondence with accuracy and professionalism
  • Opening new client files, conducting ID and AML checks, preparing initial documents, and closing files in line with the firm's procedures and compliance standards
  • Maintaining well-organised case files using client management software and ensuring all documents are handled and stored in accordance with compliance and regulatory standards
  • Supporting Solicitors with general administrative tasks including filing, scanning, and billing
  • Managing diaries, arranging meetings, and coordinating travel plans for multiple solicitors
  • Communicate with clients, colleagues, and external parties, maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Regular telephone contact with clients and professional contacts
  • Assist fee earners in the maintenance of time recording
  • File and case management, bill preparation

Experience required:

  • This role would suit an experienced Legal Support Professional, or this could also be an advantageous opportunity for a Law Graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, and quick to learn new systems and legal software
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong document production and formatting Skills, with a high standard of spelling, grammar, and presentation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, exceptional attention to detail
