Manufacturing Engineer | Colchester | Defence Sector
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation that specialises in developing and delivering high-performance solutions within the defence sector. This role is part of a dedicated team that drives strategic growth and plays a key role in delivering high-profile defence projects.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be part of a motivated and collaborative team responsible for optimising production processes, ensuring efficiency and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
You'll play a crucial role in ensuring that designs meet customer requirements and evolve to meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Working with cross-functional teams to streamline manufacturing processes, boosting efficiency and reducing waste
- Managing production equipment to ensure reliability and minimal downtime and supporting the introduction of new technologies and equipment
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives - such as Six Sigma or Kaizen - to support operational excellence
- Addressing and resolving production issues and collaborating with Quality teams to ensure compliance with stringent standards and customer expectations
- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing detailed reports, and contributing to technical documentation
- Promoting a culture of health and safety by conducting risk assessments and implementing preventive measures
- Working closely with design, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure seamless production activities and providing technical training to staff
What We're Looking For:
- At least 4 years' experience in an HVAC or similar engineering environment
- A proactive team player with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Familiarity with engineering tools (such as SolidWorks) and an understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
- A relevant HNC/Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent QA qualification)
