Operations Manager - Wholesaler

Colchester, Essex

Permanent Position, Fulltime

£30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Assure Personnel Ltd are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager, on behalf of our client, a leading wholesaler. As an Operations Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a wholesale business, ensuring the efficient and effective processes for receiving, storing, selling and dispatching of goods. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and able to oversee daily business operations and ensure the smooth running of every department.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the wholesale business, including managing staff, implementing operational policies and improving processes to enhance efficiency

Process Optimisation

  • Identify areas for improvement in operational processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards in the wholesale environment.
  • Risk management and compliance coordination including implementing and updating health and safety policies and procedures

Technology Implementation

  • Implement and manage technology solutions including CRM systems, inventory management and order processing software, to streamline operations

Office Management

  • Manage day-to-day office operations, to ensure the office runs smoothly
  • When required assist with answering customer enquiries via telephone and email.
  • Take customer orders and accurately input orders onto the company system
  • Deal with couriers such as chasing up for estimated delivery times and lost parcels

Personal Assistant

  • Personal assistant duties to support the director where required

Staff Management

  • Assist with the hiring, training and supervision of wholesale staff, across departments, including implementing induction processes for new staff

Customer Relationship Management

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with wholesale clients, addressing their needs and resolving any issues

Criteria

  • Demonstrable Operations Management experience
  • Experience in a similar role ideally within a wholesale business (minimum of 2 years)
  • HR experience
  • Exceptional leadership and ability to drive innovation and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in administrative tasks with a focus on organisation.
  • Proven ability in supervising teams effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional phone etiquette to represent the company positively in all communications.
  • Must drive due to location in Colchester, not accessible via public transport
