Reed in Colchester are currently working with a fantastic company who specialise in compressed air technology. They predominantly focus in the development, production and sale of medium and high-pressure compressors for applications in commercial shipping industries, petroleum industry and the defence sector.

Due to company growth they are now looking for a Service engineer to join their team!

You will be responsible for providing support to the Service Support Manager (UK) in all aspects of servicing high pressure Air/Gas Compressors into the UK market. The role will involve travelling in the UK and Ireland as necessary to do the job as directed by the Service Support Manager (UK). Occasional travel maybe required overseas for training purposes or to support the German company:

Duties to include:

• To carry out service work (manual) (mechanical & electrical) for warranty, commissioning and chargeable jobs for the compressors in service in the UK and Ireland. (Factory training will be given) This work can be in tight/cramped conditions, some heavy lifting may be necessary.

• Communication with our customer base to discuss service / support aspects technically.

• Communication with the German HQ in order to discuss service requirements (trouble shoot)in respect to diagnosing problems and to agree the relevant solution.

• Liaise with both the ā€œService Support/After Sales Coordinator ā€

• Identify and promote new business opportunities

• Attend training courses as and when directed to ensure adequate knowledge is gained.

• Support Service SupportManager UK in respect of ā€œHealth & Safetyā€ – ā€œMethod & Risk Assessmentsfor service work at site.

• Ensure that the Environment is considered with work undertaken, in respect to recycling andelimination of any contamination to the ground.

• Produce accurate service reports for submission to Service SupportĀ Manager

• Assembly of compressor ā€˜packages’ within the workshop as required.

Personal Profile:

• The candidate must have a mechanical/engineering background - Apprenticeship with formal training to NVQ levels or equivalent. A working knowledge of electrical systems is also desirable.

• Must be physically fit and able to work in tight/cramped conditions without risk of injury.

• Must be willing to work away from home Monday-Friday if required, depending on location of Service work (expenses paid).

• Be self-motivated, confident and willing to assist in all aspects of the business if required.

• Friendly and polite manner being able to converse on the telephone with all levels including senior management.• Must be customer orientated to ensure that their requests are dealt with in a professional manner.

• Computer literate and operate Microsoft office programmes such as word, excel, etc.

• Must have a clean UK driving Licence.
