Were on the hunt for a passionate and driven individual to teach technical engineering and associated subjects at both FE & HE levels. In this role, youll have the opportunity to shape the future of engineering by embedding essential engineering Maths skills while taking on key responsibilities in course leadership and curriculum development.

You'll teach across a range of technical engineering subjects, delivering exciting and engaging lessons for students at levels 1 - 4.

You must have a Level 5 qualification in engineering and/or manufacturing, or a professional industrial qualification, combined with hands-on experience in the engineering or manufacturing sector. Ideally you will be a qualified teacher, with a positive attitude, an eagerness to tackle new challenges, and a commitment to inspiring the next generation of engineers. With excellent IT and communication skills, youll be ready to make a real impact and guide students toward success.

Essential Requirements
  • Education to level 5 or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or equivalent
  • Relevant Teacher training or the wiliness to complete within 3 years of employment (3 years of the first available course)
  • HNC/HND and/or higher qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
Essential Experience
  • Industrial experience within the mechanical manufacturing engineering sector.
  • Experience of using CAD and/or other design software.
  • Experience of working with young people.
While holding a full teaching qualification is not a requirement for this role, some teaching experience or evidence of leading learning is essential. It will be expected that you complete a teaching qualification in post, for which you will be supported financially and with dedicated mentoring by Colchester Institute.
