Graduate Design Engineer | Aerospace Industry | No Commercial Experience Required | Salary up to £30,000 | Colwyn Bay

MERITUS are excited to be working with a growing Aerospace Manufacturing Organisation based in Colwyn Bay. We're looking for a talented Graduate / Junior Design Engineer with a passion for aerospace and advanced manufacturing to join their growing engineering and production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in a precision aerospace environment, working on high-performance components such as blades, vanes, and discs.

The successful candidate will support manufacturing process development, tooling design, and continuous improvement projects, while gaining exposure to aerospace quality systems and industry-leading engineering practices. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong career foundation in aerospace manufacturing engineering.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, improvement, and optimisation of coating, masking, and electroplating processes for aerospace components.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, HSE, and production teams to produce and update technical drawings, assemblies, and tank/exploded views using SolidWorks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues, implementing practical and sustainable solutions on the shop floor.
  • Contribute to tooling and fixture design for precision aerospace parts, ensuring reliability and repeatability.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, continuous improvement projects, and new product introduction (NPI) activities.

Required Skills:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong interest in hands-on engineering within a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to develop a long-term career in aerospace manufacturing.
