Job Purpose

  • To be responsible for and undertake Public Conveniences cleansing rounds in accordance with the agreed schedule and frequency, including thorough Cleansing of all aspects of Public Conveniences cleansing and maintenance, litter picking and emptying of bins.
  • Also to be responsible for the round's vehicle and items of equipment

Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific

  • To drive vehicles provided utilising due care and attention.
  • To undertake daily checks to the vehicle including tyres, lights, oil and water.
  • To record and report any defects.
  • To be able to use own initiative and work with limited amount of supervision.
  • To utilise various items of cleaning equipment and cleansing products as necessary.
  • To ensure that all equipment is operated in accordance with instructions issued.

To undertake various duties on a designated Public Conveniences cleansing schedule, to include:

  • Cleaning, washing, sweeping, mopping and power cleansing of all internal surfaces, including floors, wall and ceiling surfaces, door and windows, sanitary fittings and associated fixtures, using where appropriate, cleansing tools/equipment and materials/chemicals
  • The emptying of litter bins and receptacles.
  • The removal of graffili from all surfaces.
  • Replenishment of toilet tissue/toilet roll holders and liquid soap dispenser as required.
  • The polishing and dusting of designated areas
  • The opening and closing of the premises (as well as locking and unlocking).
  • The reporting of all defects/problems.
  • Such other duties as may be required, reasonably falling within the purview of the post, eg. reporting/giving statement to Police in regard to vandalism/abuse of public conveniences.
  • To complete all necessary paperwork such as worksheets, banking and night safe and taking cash when called upon to staff a facility as an attendant.
  • To co-operate with your in fulfilling his statutory duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and also to take reasonable care that your actions do not endanger yourself, fellow employees, or any other persons who might be affected by actions at work.
  • To comply at all times with the content and advice contained in all relevant Safe Working Codes of Practice, including the use of issued Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment.
  • If work is not available in the job for which you are employed, you may be asked to do any job within your competence, up to and including your current grade.
  • To take special care in the method of handling any discarded items, in order to avoid potential any manual handling injury or injury from sharp items as needles and glass
  • To wear appropriate protective clothing at all times and taking into account particular circumstances.
  • To respond to emergency situations spillages, leaks, vandalism etc- as they may arise
  • To work any five out of seven days as required by your line manager.
  • To work 7hrs 24 minutes between 7am and 9pm as directed by your line manager.

Duties and Responsibilities - Corporate

  • To be responsible for establishing good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Compliance with the Authority's Policies and Procedures and to make known to Senior Officers any areas which are not adequately covered.
