Location: Consett
Salary: GBP31,000 - GBP35,000 per year
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.

Bridge Recruitment is helping one of our established clients recruit for an experienced HSE Officer to join their ever-expanding team.
Responsibilities of the EHS Officer:
Advise Senior Management of H&S Law and updates.
Ensure all employees, contractors and visitors comply with safety legislation and safety policies are adopted and adhered to.
Ensure that safety procedures and working practices comply with legislative requirements and are in line with company values.
Oversee the reporting of accidents under guidelines in compliance with RIDDOR
To monitor and take appropriate action on accident / incident investigation, record, manage complaints and cases of ill health
Investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health
Undertake risk assessments and site inspections with consideration on how risks could be reduced.
Produce inspection analysis and reports to suggest improvements
Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely aligned with legislation and safety standards
Deliver and coordinate all required training and maintain records, ensuring consistency across all sites, including the provision of First Aiders, Fire Marshall services, ROSPA, IOSH and Forklift trained and certified personnel
Chair and coordinate H&S meetings for the Consett site
Assist with conducting H&S audits and oversee H&S audits by our client's insurers
Making presentations to groups of employees/managers
Liaising with relevant authorities as and when required
Leading and coordinating the site with achievement of H&S Way CSR Key Objectives under Scope 1 and Scope 2. Health and Safety Must Haves and Best Practices. including all reporting within these scopes
Always abide by and actively promote the Group Values and Code of Ethics.
Perform any other duties within your capabilities as requested from time to time by Management
Foster good employee relationships with Staff and Management
ISO 45001 / 14001 Responsibilities:
Ensure that the OH&S Management System conforms to the requirements of the ISO 45001 / 14001 standard
Report on the performance of the site OH&S Management System to top management (supported by UK H&S Manager)
When requested, perform internal audits of the ISO 45001 and 14001 Management System.
Requirements of the HSE Officer:
Qualified with an Occupational H&S qualification at level 3 or above e.g., NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma
Minimum recent 2 years' experience in a lead role within an Industrial / Manufacturing environment
Proven ability to acquire and apply detailed legal, technical and regulatory information
Proficient in the use of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Be able to deal efficiently and effectively with difficult situations
Effective communicator at all levels. internal and external stakeholders
Positive, proactive and professional approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
Organisation and time management skills (priorities and multi tasks)
Excellent analysis skills in understanding processes, tasks and operations
Listening and ability to summarise as well as presentation skills
Leadership and persuasive skills
Calm, patient and assertive, with excellent negotiation skills
Driving licence is desirable
Willing to travel to other UK based site locations
