Biodiversity Officer

Hours: Part Time, 4 days per week (30 hours)

Our client is the principal membership organisation for Community & Town Councils in Wales. Following a successful 4 years developing and promoting biodiversity and nature recovery within the Local Places for Nature programme, they are expanding the team.

The new North Wales Biodiversity Officer will assist the Programme manager in delivering on the aims and objectives of the Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature programme (LPfN) across the Community & Town Council (C&TC) sector.

They are looking for someone who is highly motivated and enthusiastic about nature recovery, native species and promoting biodiversity. You will provide practical support, specialist advice and training to the sector on nature recovery and greening of the public estate and to assist them to effectively manage amenity land for biodiversity. You will act as an advocate of the sector and represent their needs and facilitate positive engagement between C&TCs and other organisations.

This role will give you the opportunity to really make a difference across Wales, working with volunteers and dedicated Councillors to create, enhance and restore nature on the doorstep.

You will be working as part of a team, reporting directly to the Local Places for Nature Programme manager, and as a valued member of the staff, you will be fully supported by the Chief Executive Officer and the rest of the team.

This a home-based role but the programme of work will be primarily focused on the Northern Counties of Wales and frequent travel will be required with some occasional weekend and evening work. You will need to work outside in all weathers and in all terrains. Being a fluent Welsh speaker is desirable but not essential, however Welsh language skills at Level 1-3 or the willingness to learn are essential to this role.
