Your Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Supervisor based in Corby, Northamptonshire. The main purpose of this role is to support the Transport Manager in a supervisory capacity ensuring the vehicle fleet and drivers operate in accordance with the standards set by the Traffic Commissioner and DVSA. Key to that is adhering to statutory regulations and ensure compliance with ADM policies. The position will assume the day to day operational supervision of the fleet assets and drivers to leverage maximum utilisation and manage variable costs within a pre-defined scope.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety management and engagement in accordance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure legal compliance for company Operator Licence is maintained.
  • Manage distribution costs with particular regard to agency and sub-contractor use to ensure least cost options coupled with maintaining budget within a pre-defined scope.
  • Support and advise Team Leaders and Drivers on operational requirements.
  • Maintain excellent customer dialogue to ensure delivery efficiencies and customer service levels are met.
  • Liaise with operational departments specifically Sales, Central Logistics, Garage, Warehouse and Mill to ensure that distribution function operates in alignment with functional objectives.
  • Conduct daily de-briefs with drivers to manage legal compliance with Vision and Microlise telematics.
  • Support sustainability agenda including utilisation of Electric trucks and charging infrastructure.
  • Carry out distribution related administration requirements to company standards.
  • Working days: Monday to Friday

Your Profile

  • Certificate of Professional Competence (National Road Haulage)
  • Demonstrable distribution operational experience including incident and disciplinary investigations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transport law and legislation requirements.
  • Excellent team leadership and motivational skills.
  • IOSH qualification desirable but not essential.
  • C+E vocational license desirable but not essential.
  • Exposure to collective bargaining / union environment desirable.
  • Good experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Ability to manage conflict resolution.
  • Good knowledge of EU Drivers Hours & WTD rules.
  • Good ability to route plan and schedule at least cost option.
