We are currently looking for experienced and competent Electrical and Mechanical Fitters with skills in mechanical and electrical installation focused on quality engineering precision. This position is for a reputable client of ours based in Rugby who are consistently growing year on year and looking to add well rounded individuals to their team and in return can offer training and progression opportunities.

Mechanical Fitter/ Electrical Fitter/ Rugby/ Engineering/ Temporary to Permanent

Job purpose:

Reporting to the Manufacturing & Production Manager and having accountability for assigned tasks; the individual shall work as part of a team and be responsible for the self-inspection of assembled components including quality compliance and safety standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out fitting and relevant assembly work.
  • Correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including power tools, test equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Install, position and secure equipment and components in accordance with the specification and ensure that all necessary connections to the equipment are complete.
  • Use the appropriate methods and techniques to assemble the components in their correct positions, securing the components using the specified connectors and securing devices.
  • Work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Correctly instruct, supervise and transfer skills to any apprentice and semi-skilled led worker assigned to you to ensure safety and quality of work.
  • Test all products safely.
  • Use safety equipment, PPE and protective devices and equipment.

Other experience would include:

  • Ability to read electrical schematics or mechanical CAD engineering drawings.
  • Build to sample.
  • Cabinet wiring and cable assembly.
  • Power supply unit construction.
  • Wiring looms and Harnesses.
  • Identify, test & fault finding in electrical installation and equipment.
  • Neat and accurate crimping and soldering of wires.
  • Mechanical assembly duties may include cutting, drilling, tapping, and soldering.
  • Cooler build.
