A well-established, privately owned contractor is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. You'll be taking the lead on a spread of new build and refurbishment schemes across sectors like residential, commercial, education, leisure, and healthcare.
With projects typically procured via both traditional and design & build routes—including successful two-stage tenders—you'll be trusted to drive commercial performance while working closely with clients and site teams.
Your Role - What You'll Be Doing
You'll act as the commercial lead on your schemes, taking responsibility for:
- Budgeting, cost planning, reporting and final accounts
- Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers—negotiating best value
- Managing monthly valuations, variations, and change control
- Driving cash flow through timely applications and payment approvals
- Supporting Project Managers to ensure delivery stays on time and on budget
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and the internal leadership team
- Mentoring junior staff where appropriate
- Supporting pre-construction activity and contributing to tender processes
This is a hands-on Senior QS role offering real variety. Projects typically range from £2m to £15m in value and include:
- New build and complex refurbishment schemes
- High-spec commercial and residential developments
- Public sector projects such as schools and community hubs
- Heritage upgrades and listed building renovations
- Traditional and D&B contracts, often via two-stage tenders

What We're Looking For
- 6+ years' Quantity Surveying experience, ideally with a main contractor
- Comfortable leading commercial duties across full project lifecycles
- Strong working knowledge of traditional and D&B contract forms
- Previous involvement in two-stage tender processes is a plus
- Confident communicator with good commercial instincts
- Relevant qualification (degree, HNC, or time-served equivalent)
- Self-motivated, detail-focused, and team-oriented
- £80,000 - £90,000 depending on experience
- Car allowance, travel costs, private healthcare, and full benefits
- 3 days/week in the Coulsdon head office, rest across active sites
