A leading automotive innovator is seeking a Lead Engineer specialising in brake systems refinement, development and vehicle-level validation. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong braking expertise, hands-on test experience and deep understanding of hydraulic, regenerative and blended braking technologies.
You will take ownership of brake refinement activities across prototype and production programmes, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, data-led decision-making and the ability to deliver high-quality test outputs under fast-paced development timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead refinement, testing and validation of brake systems (hydraulic, regenerative, blended).
- Plan and execute vehicle tests including pedal feel, brake bedding, fade, stopping distance and NVH assessments.
- Configure and operate data acquisition systems using CAN tools (Vector CANalyzer, MoTeC, Pi Toolbox).
- Set up instrumentation including sensors, loggers and calibration equipment.
- Analyse test data, identify root causes and recommend engineering improvements.
- Produce detailed DVPs, technical reports, test summaries and build documentation.
- Collaborate with chassis, controls, software and supplier teams to meet performance targets.
Essential Skills:
- Brake system engineering (hydraulic, regenerative, blended braking).
- Vehicle testing & validation on track, proving ground or climatic environments.
- CAN data acquisition and analysis tools (Vector, MoTeC, Pi Toolbox, MATLAB).
- Instrumentation setup, calibration and logger configuration.
- CATIA V5/V6, TeamCenter, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong reporting and documentation capability (DVP&R, test reports, build books).
Desirable Skills:
- EV braking and brake-by-wire exposure.
- Knowledge of global standards (FMVSS, ECE R13H, AMS).
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your braking expertise within a cutting-edge automotive environment, driving refinement and performance improvements across advanced vehicle platforms.
