About the Role

Morson Talent are proud to be recruiting on behalf of Severn Trent, who keep water flowing for 4.8 million households and businesses across the heart of the UK — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We’re now looking for a Customer Pollution Controller to join Severn Trent’s Network Control team within the Waste Operational Control Centre in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in customer service, environmental response, or analytical operations who enjoys making quick, informed decisions that protect the environment.

In this role, you’ll assess reports of potential pollution events, determine their priority, and ensure the correct field response is deployed swiftly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess customer reports and telemetry information to identify potential pollution events.
  • Prioritise and raise appropriate response jobs (Priority 1 Rapid Response or lower priority) based on risk.
  • Contact customers via phone or video to gather further details and verify pollution reports.
  • Ensure all reports are actioned within agreed service-level timescales.
  • Escalate or de-escalate incidents through thorough desktop-based risk assessments.
  • Review previous pollution responses and Environmental Agency contacts to identify areas for improvement.
  • Use multiple data sources and internal systems to make sound, evidence-based decisions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused or analytical environment.
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • An interest in environmental protection and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Knowledge of sewerage or waste networks and pollution-related processes (advantageous but not essential).

Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English – essential
  • Further qualifications in water, sewerage, engineering, or network management – desirable

What’s in It for You

  • Hourly rate: £21.44
  • Contract: 2 months, with the potential to extend to 6 months
  • Full training and ongoing support provided
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to Severn Trent’s environmental objectives and zero-pollution strategy
