Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for domestic abuse refuge manager on behalf of our client based in Coventry. The purpose of this role is to provide managerial support to all aspects of the refuge. This is a 24-hour refuge which provides a safe place for women and their children who have been victims of domestic violence.

Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: 30,868 per annum

Main duties and responsibilities
- To develop and promote communication and understating of the effects of violence within BME families and communities.
- To develop appropriate relationships with all BME service users in the establishment which will provide stimulation, support and security to them and enable them to develop emotional maturity and appropriate behavior.
- To assist in formulating support plans and training programs and take appropriate action relating to Residents Support Plans and other programmes devised and contribute to their reviews.
- To assist monitor and record the emotional physical and psychological developments of residents.
- To be available to undertake out of hours and night work on a rota basis.
- To receive calls out of hours from residents and the Helpline.
- To assist residents to fill in forms i.e., housing benefit, income support, housing and internal forms.
- To answer the telephone and deal with inquires and keep a log of all calls.
- To undertake typing for the service including residents' letters.
- To collect the post and distribute to residents.
Person Specification
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in work with vulnerable people especially DA victims, women, young people and children.
- Minimum of two year working with BME communities experiencing forced marriage & honour-based violence and abuse.
- Good written and verbal communication skills Fluent in English and at least one main BME language.
- Thorough Understanding of the issues of domestic violence in BME communities.
- Good understanding of relevant legislative and current policy issues relevant to domestic violence.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Children's act, Safeguarding children.
- Able to drive with current driving license and access to a vehicle and business insurance.
- Clear Enhanced DBS
