Role Overview:
This role is ideal for a proactive purchasing professional with strong experience in manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials through effective ERP/MRP system utilisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the purchasing process for key components and materials required in manufacturing.
- Source, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including production, planning, and engineering teams.
- Utilise ERP/MRP systems effectively for planning, order placement, and supplier performance monitoring.
- Maintain accurate data in procurement systems including lead times, pricing, and stock levels.
- Analyse supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement in procurement practices.
- Resolve supply issues, delivery discrepancies, and support quality assurance efforts.
- Generate reports on purchasing activity, supplier performance, and cost savings.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven purchasing/procurement experience within amanufacturing or engineeringenvironment.
- Strong working knowledge ofERP and MRP systemsis essential.
- Demonstrable success in managing supplier relationships and negotiating commercial terms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across internal teams and suppliers.
- Ability to read technical drawings/specifications is advantageous.
- Highly organised, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- CIPS qualification or working towards (desirable, but not essential).
