Job Title: Young Persons Support Worker - HomelessnessJob Type: Temporary to permanentLocation: CoventryIndustry: Social Care - Supported HousingThe organisationIn this Young Persons Support Worker opportunity in Coventry, you will join a charity who's purpose is to help other gain independence and follow a positive pathway out of homelessness.Key responsibilitiesIn this Young Persons Support Worker job, your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a caseload of 8-12 at one time - 1:1 support plans based on each individual to help promote independent living
  • Assisting with finances / budgeting / cooking skills / laundry / applying for jobs / getting back into education
  • Along with independent living skills you will help individuals with bidding for housing and setting up benefits
  • Planning activities or workshops to provide information, advice and guidance when living out of temporary accommodation
  • Booking and attending appointments
  • Helping them overcome barriers they may face externally - mental health / domestic violence / substance misuse / learning disabilities - encouraging them to engage with external agencies to seek help
  • Keeping track of payments for Housing / service charge / rent etc
Skills & experience
  • Proven track record of working In an Young Persons Support Worker role or supported housing before - up to date knowledge of housing legislation Is required
  • Willing to travel across the Coventry area - care driver Is not essential but highly desired
  • DBS on the update service - needs to be an enhanced child and adult cleared
  • Flexible to work 5 days over 7 shift work
