ABC Teachers is seeking Youth Support Workers to provide flexible and dedicated support across primary and secondary SEN schools. This is a supply-based role, offering the opportunity to gain experience in a range of specialist educational settings.

About the role:

  • 1:1 and Small Group Support: Work closely with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD).
  • Positive Engagement: Build trusting relationships, encourage positive behaviour, and help pupils develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Adaptable Approach: Support pupils’ individual learning plans, adapting resources and approaches to meet diverse needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure pupils have consistent, supportive provision that promotes both academic and personal progress.

About the schools:

You will be supporting SEN schools across the Coventry area that are committed to providing high-quality education for children with additional needs. Schools often have specialist facilities, smaller class sizes, and dedicated teams who strive to create inclusive, nurturing environments where every child can succeed.

About you:

To be considered for the Youth Support Worker role, you will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, whether in schools, youth work, residential care, or community settings.
  • Be confident in managing behaviour positively and supporting pupils with varying needs.
  • Show patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Be adaptable to different school environments and age groups (primary and secondary).
  • Have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check that is registered on the Update Service.

This role would be suitable for candidates with backgrounds in youth work, care, psychology, mentoring, or other related fields.
