Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for 1:1 support?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Coundon, Coventry is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech and language needs. Starting in September, this full-time role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact through tailored, 1:1 support.

About the Role:

You will be working closely with a Year 2 pupil, supporting their academic and emotional development through effective SEN strategies. This includes delivering learning content using alternative communication methods and creating a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 child with ASD.
  • Use strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and storytelling to support communication and learning.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver personalised interventions.
  • Track and report progress towards individual targets.
  • Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment for the pupil.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism in a school setting.
  • Knowledge and experience using Makaton, PECS, and other non-verbal communication tools.
  • Understanding of speech and language needs in primary-aged children.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3) or equivalent experience.
  • Empathetic, patient, and able to build positive relationships with children.
